San Francisco Bay Area

See the San Francisco page for pictures in the city itself

This was spring time and the number of flowering plants and the variety of them was amazing to me.  I see a daisy there, but what are the all yellow ones?

That's right . . . these.  Anyone know their name?

These plants I know well.  They are called Iceplants and they are a member of the cactus family.  No needles though.  Just nice flowers of several colors.

There's a nice purple Iceplant flower.

Surfers at the Soquel Point Light House, Santa Cruz.  This is a beautiful place to go surfing.  The waves are always great and the ride is usually long.  The only problem is that Great White Sharks also like it around these parts.  There are many California Sea Lions to feed on and surfers are sometimes mistaken for the sea lions.

From the light house, the surfers walk out along the cliff and then down to where they jump into the ocean.  It is difficult to see them in this photo, but there are a hundred or so sea lions out on that rock-island.  Sometimes the sea lions can be seen right in among the surfers.  No wonder the Great Whites have a problem knowing which ones are dinner.

Further north from Soquel Point toward Natural Bridges Beach State Park.  Still near Santa Cruz.

The Pigeon Point Light Station

It's about half way between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay (just south of the town of Pescadero).  In other words . . . just a beautiful, very sparsely populated place along the California coast.

Calla lilies grow wild all over the place.

Saw lots and lots of these lilies on the drive up the coast from Santa Cruz to San Francisco.  Just beautiful.  Look at all the other wild flowers too.

CPI, building #2, Palo Alto

This is the building I work in when visiting the MPP (Microwave Power Products Division) in Palo Alto.

CPI sign on El Camino Real in Palo Alto in front of the corporate headquarters.

The pictures of CPI really don't belong on this page that is mostly of the California coast line south of San Francisco.  But, I had to put them somewhere since the company "pays the freight" to get me to these nice places.
